At Light of Christ Academy, students are taught that faith, science, and reason go hand-in-hand and are not in conflict with one another. Students are taught that God is the First Cause of everything in the universe and that He created the systems and processes that make the universe and the planet work so perfectly. It is through science that people attempt to understand those beautiful, perfect, systems, and processes. Our goal is that students better understand science and have an appreciation of the miraculous Creation God has made.
Integrated Learning
Science is integrated into the various subjects studied. Students are taught science and engineering principles using a hands-on approach by observing God's creation, wondering, discussing, and journaling. They also engage in investigations, create models, and involve themselves in the practical application of science. Students have access to an abundance of excellent science equipment with which they can explore God's creation.
Makerspace Monday
Every Monday, students have an opportunity to engage in extended science opportunities after school. Through challenging, exciting and interactive activities, participants have the opportunity to make, design, program, and play while learning science and engineering principles. Participants also learn how to embrace the innovation and creativity given to them by God our creator!
